An up-and-coming rapper from Florida, known as Julio Foolio, has tragically died in a shooting outside a Tampa-area hotel. His attorney, Lewis Fusco, announced the death on Sunday, just hours after the incident. Julio Foolio, whose real name was Charles Jones, was in town to celebrate his birthday.

Initially staying at an Airbnb, Jones was reportedly asked to leave for exceeding the maximum occupancy. He then checked into a local Holiday Inn. The shooting occurred in the hotel parking lot just before 5 AM ET. According to Julio’s lawyers, the rapper was ambushed and killed.

Tampa Police stated that they believe Jones was the victim in the shooting, though they are awaiting confirmation from the Medical Examiner’s Office. Three other individuals were also shot during the ambush and were taken to the hospital. They are expected to make a full recovery. The police are currently investigating the cause of the shooting.

Julio Foolio first gained prominence in 2018 with his debut album “6toven.” He continued to release a series of albums, with his most recent being “Resurrection,” which came out in April of this year. His lyrics often referenced murders from around the Jacksonville area, including reportedly gang-related slayings. Last year, he survived another shooting incident in which he was shot in the foot.

Fusco has asked for privacy for the family during this difficult time. Law enforcement has been contacted for more details, but no further information has been provided yet.
