Haris Rauf Viral Video Twitter
Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf recently found himself in the spotlight after a video of a scuffle with a fan in the United States went viral. During the incident, Rauf appeared uncontrollable while the fan eventually walked away as bystanders tried to defuse the situation. Throughout the ordeal, Rauf’s wife was seen continuously trying to calm him down, but the cricketer remained visibly furious until the end of the video.
Reacting to the video, Rauf initially refrained from discussing the matter on social media but felt compelled to speak out after the clip surfaced online. In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), he acknowledged that criticism is part and parcel of being a cricketer but emphasized the importance of respecting their families.
“When it comes to my parents and my family, I will not hesitate to respond accordingly. It is important to show respect towards people and their families, irrespective of their professions,” Rauf wrote.
Following Rauf’s response, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi publicly defended the cricketer, condemning the incident and labeling it as “completely unacceptable.” Naqvi insisted that those involved should apologize to Rauf or face legal consequences.
Support for Rauf also poured in from fellow cricketers. All-rounder Shadab Khan stated that while cricketers learn from criticism, no one has the right to attack them, especially in front of their families. He asked, “How would you feel if anyone makes a personal attack in the presence of your family members?”
Former red-ball skipper Shan Masood echoed these sentiments, condemning the use of inappropriate language in front of family. Pacer Hasan Ali urged fans to exercise their right to criticism ethically and to respect cricketers and their families. Cricketer Junaid Khan added that while criticism is everyone’s right, abusing and interfering in personal matters is unacceptable. Former team director Mohammad Hafeez also expressed his solidarity with Rauf, stressing that the boundaries between players’ personal and professional lives must be respected.
It is noteworthy that Rauf was part of Pakistan’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. Pakistan was knocked out at the group stage after losing their first two matches to the USA and India. They needed the USA to defeat Ireland on June 14 to advance to the Super 8, but the match was called off due to excessive rain in Lauderhill, Florida, ending Pakistan’s journey in the tournament.
